Singles New Year Love Resolutions

The New Year is soon here and with it comes many opportunities for transformation. Perhaps you’ve decided next year is the year you’ll meet that special someone and begin the relationship you’ve always dreamed of. However, understanding why you want this is as important as learning how to find it.

Why You Want To Be In A Relationship? When you spend time contemplating this question, you will gain insights into yourself, as well as a deeper understanding of what being in a relationship means to you.

Understanding Your Why. Take out a notebook and brainstorm all your reasons for wanting to be in a relationship.

All Is Not Lost. There is no better time than now to be single. There is so much information available about relationships and dating and so many ways to meet someone special. Celebrate being single. Embrace this opportunity to do things differently. Don’t settle for less, otherwise you will get less.

Develop Dating and Relationship Skills. Being knowledgable increases your confidence and will help you make the most of all the singles events that you should go to during the year.

Commit to Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone. Trying new things can be scary, but if you remain in your comfort zone doing the same things the same way, you prevent change from happening.

Enlist the Support of Friends and Family. Let’s face it, there are plenty of fish out there in a very big ocean. Go “trawl fishing” instead of “fly fishing”! They love you and will want to help, but they will need to know what you are looking for.

Know What You Want. Becoming really clear within yourself about the kind of relationship you want will help you make better dating choices.

Know Who You Want. Write between five and ten characteristics of the person you want to attract. If you are vague, you will achieve wishy-washy results.

Be Proactive. Spend time doing things you enjoy as well as trying something different. There are lots of singles bars, clubs and events specifically for single people to get together. If none of these appeal to you, explore alternatives where you could meet other like minded singles. Are you a member of any recreational clubs? Do you play sport? Do you belong to a spiritual group? How about a film club? Book a singles event today or register to a dating website.

Measure Your Progress. Keeping a daily journal to jot down what you’re doing and what’s showing up for you is a great way to keep tabs on how you’re doing. If you haven’t met someone yet, or you aren’t getting past the first or second date, it’s all too easy to become disheartened and give up. Your journal will help you recognise what’s working and what’s not working.

Refine Your Lists. As you go through this process, you will develop a deeper understanding of what is most important to you. You may cross off things you thought were essential. You will add things you had not considered before.

Self Belief. One of the most fundamental elements of achieving success with all of this is what you believe. Believe you deserve to have a truly loving, fulfilling and committed relationship with the man or woman of your dreams.

Pay Attention. A variety of clues will show up for you to help you on this exciting quest for your life partner. Pay close attention to messages in dreams, invitations to go somewhere, chance encounters. You never know when you will meet your dream man/women in person.

Be Ready and Available. Don’t become exclusive with someone you don’t consider your true soul mate.

Enjoy your Singles New Year!
